SJP Properties has announced a lease agreement that would bring Botox and Lap-Band maker Allergan to
Bridgewater, New Jersey. Allergan will occupy 93,000 square feet of class A office space in the Somerset Corporate Center II, located in a strong area that includes Rutgers University, Bridgewater Common Mall, as well as several schools, daycare facilities, restaraunts and golf courses. Other tenants include Qualcomm, Merrill Lynch, Juniper Networks and Aon Consulting.
SJP’s CEO Steven J. Pozycki said in a statement that the transaction is "a continuation of our organization’s track record attracting leading-edge companies to our properties.” He added that the company is “extremely confident that Allergan will strongly benefit from this property’s strategic location within the heart b of New Jersey’s pharma/tech corridor, offering unparalleled access to a highly skilled labor pool.”
There was heavy competition from other states to lure the company.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie won out, by offering the most lucrative business incentives. After the announcement of the agreement, Governor Christie said in a statement that "working diligently to attract leading companies such as Allergan to New Jersey to improve our long-term economic prospects has been a top priority of mine since I took office.”
