The Stay

Behind an unmarked cedar door in the Kasbah quarter, Riad Lumière opens onto a courtyard of orange trees, zellige fountains, and the particular silence that only the medina's thickest walls can buy. The riad was restored over three years by master maâlems using techniques unchanged for centuries — hand-cut tile, carved plaster, tadelakt the colour of sand at dusk — then layered with deep sofas, Berber textiles, and a library of art books.

Five suites surround the courtyard and gardens, each with fireplace and hammam-style bath. The rooftop is the riad's second life: a plunge pool, shaded daybeds, and a dining pergola where breakfast arrives with the Atlas Mountains on the horizon and dinner unfolds under lanterns. A full staff — house manager, cook, and housekeepers — runs the house invisibly, and the cook's tagines alone justify the journey.

Three-night minimum. The riad is taken exclusively, sleeping ten, with airport transfers, daily breakfast, and one dinner per stay included. Guides, day trips to the Agafay desert, and hammam rituals arranged on request.
